Getting Rich Principles - Essential 10 Point Overview To Creating An Abundant Life

By Denise N. Bates

Wattles -- as in Wallace D Wattles -- is author of "The Science of Getting Rich", which is one of the landmark books of the past 100 years. In his book, published in 1910, Wattles teaches getting rich principles which have become the staple of the modern self improvement industry. Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, and Bob Proctor, just to name a few have all written about the "universal secret" and, of course, Rhonda Byrne's film The Secret was inspired by the Wattles science of getting rich principles. To help you better understand the essence of what Wattles says in his book about creating life abundance, here is an essential overview of the ten key science of getting rich principles he describes:
[The Science Of Getting Rich]

You have the inherent right to live an abundant life. As Wattles explains, this is the natural order of things in the Universe. It's also a mindset that tends to fly in the face of normal social conventions. If you are like most people, your natural tendency is to believe you aren't deserving or worthy. This is the first area for you to focus on if you wish to become rich. There is a natural energy of the universe which is the essence of all creation and this energy is triggered your by thoughts. In other words, thoughts are real things and they are the catalyst to creating anything. First, there is the thought, then the feeling, then the action. The universe is naturally abundant. Rather than being tricked into believing resources are scarce and you must compete for everything, understand that abundance abounds. This frees you to use your creative mind.

Begin to take action: The vision is formed and nurtured, and your mind is focused on the now. This will begin to drive your actions; it will stimulate you to your best. But this is only the beginning. Out of the "Thinking Substance" which "permeates" the universe and which makes up everything will come ideas and plans. These will bubble into your consciousness and lead you to specific actions that will move you to the fulfillment of your vision. Recall the quote we began with: "By thought, the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it." These ideas and plans are the specific actions for you're to receive the thing that is brought to you. Again from chapter 12 of "The Science of Getting Rich:"

Whatever your action is to be, it is evident that you must act NOW. You cannot act in the past, and it is essential to the clearness of your mental vision that you dismiss the past from your mind. You cannot act in the future, for the future is not here yet.Hold with faith and purpose the vision of yourself in the better environment, but act upon your present environment with all your heart, and with all your strength, and with all your mind. As you begin to live life this way you will find new energy and joy. The visions are expressions of your soul and will form into actions and then into physical reality.

In business, the key-thought in all your efforts must be to convey THE IMPRESSION OF INCREASE in other people's minds. Continuous advancement and increase in life is what all men and women are seeking. People are attracted to those who can give them more of the means of life and this attraction will result in you becoming rich. Therefore, no matter how small the transaction, even the selling of a stick of candy, put into it the thought of increase into the mind of the customer. Hold the unshakable faith in yourself, that you are in the way of increase and let it permeate every action. Don't boast of your success or seek power over other men. Beware the competitive mind! What you want for you, you must want for everybody.

THE ADVANCING MAN is one who holds a clear vision of himself as successful in his field, who obeys the laws of faith and purpose, and gratitude. No matter whether you're a wage-earner or a businessman; whether you're a doctor, teacher, clergyman etc., you will attract a large loyal following and never be "out of a job"! The man who is certain to advance is one who knows what he wants and can become. Do not try to fill more of your present place with a view to pleasing your employer; rather, do it with the idea of advancing yourself. When an opportunity to be more than you are now is presented and you feel impelled towards it, take it. It will be the first step toward a greater opportunity. There is no such thing in the universe as a lack of opportunity for the man who is living the advancing life.

Hypnosis is a technique for influencing your mind by suggestion. Create positive suggestions and build a positive frame of mind. Repeat these suggestions over time and you will move from wherever you are into the frame of mind required to use the law of attraction. You will not only overcome but you will eliminate negative thought patterns that have sabotaged you up to this point. This is the general use of hypnosis.

Guard your speech. Never speak of yourself, your affairs, or of anything else in a discouraged or discouraging way. Never admit the possibility of failure. Never speak of times as being hard, or of business conditions as being doubtful. When you operate on the creative plane, you can create what you want. When others are having hard times and poor business, you will find your greatest opportunities. Train yourself to think of and look upon the world as something which is becoming, growing. Never allow yourself to be disappointed. If you do not receive the thing you want, go on in the Certain Way, and you will receive something so much better. You will see that the seeming failure was really a great success. When you make a "failure", it is because you have not asked for enough! Do not hesitate or waver with fear, go on in full faith.

Chapter 2 is called, "There Is A Science of Getting Rich." In this chapter we learn that getting rich is achieved by doing things in a "certain way." Our suggestion reinforces this in our mind causing us to embrace the belief and make it our own. And further, we need not have material wealth to achieve wealth; we need only do things in a "certain way." This becomes real as we reinforce it using affirmations and hypnosis. So we continue through the book creating affirmations and suggestions for each chapter to make the book a part of our very being so that we don't just approach it with head knowledge but with a deep understanding because it has become a part of us. Success follows this simple method as you move from chapter to chapter enhancing the words and their effects on your being. You will naturally be happy, naturally be positive, naturally be thankful and this is at the core of applying the law of attraction.

The Science Of Getting Rich - Your Action Plan For Success

By Marie M. Clarke

Wallace Wattles was born in the 1800s at a time when there was war going on in States. Wallace Wattles faced lot of hardships and also faced failures until in the latter parts of his life where he did experimentations and tireless study which he implemented in his book "The Science of Getting Rich." The book is more of a practical manual than being pragmatical or philosophical. It is a book which is useful for both men and women, who are looking forward to reach their goal and earn money.
[The Science Of Getting Rich]

What do you want? If I had to pick one question that probably stumps most people, this one would be it. Most people really don't know what they want out of life, and so they just drift through life.If you really want to get what you want out of life, then you need to know exactly what that is. To be rich and famous is simply not enough. You need to be as specific as possible about what you want. Why do you want it? If you want to be rich and famous because you want to teach the kids from high school that they were wrong about you, then that's the wrong reason. If you want to be [fill in the blank] because you genuinely want to help others, now you're on the right track. Wallace Wattles says we can only give others what we have. Giving will only bring you more of what you want. What's holding you back? Do you have any attitudes you need to get rid of, like you'll never succeed because: you're the wrong color, wrong, sex, wrong size, wrong this, wrong that, you [fill in the blank]? Get rid of them. Attitudes like that will only hold you back, and they'll only be unnecessary obstacles. Why punish yourself like that?

Are there skills you need to develop? Do you need to go back to school, etc.? Before you take such drastic steps, consider talents you already have. You may need to do nothing more than to start taking action, and if you look at your talents, you may just realize what you really want to do with your life. What action steps will you take? Although there are many ways to do this, my favorite way, and the easiest way I know of, is recommended by Mark Joyner of Simpleology. It's called The Backward Planner.Basically, all you have to do is write down the end result of what you want to achieve and then write the steps you need to take, backwards, to get what you want. For example, if you want to earn $10,000 a month, that's your end state. Now, write down the steps you'll take to achieve that. It could be something like doing 10 joint ventures. Write down each step involved in making that step happen.

Look, the bottom line is this: only you get to decide who you will be and what you will do with your life unless you decide to listen to those who don't have your best interests at heart. Is that what you really want for your life?I grew up having thoughts and feelings for just about every idea and concept in Wattles' book. But it took several years as a business man, and as a family man, to finally bring them all together in my own mind. Only then did I realize that I had been, since my early teens, using vision, purpose, faith, and gratitude, to help me build wealth, success, and happiness. By the time I was 19, I already believed that in order for me to be a good Christian, I needed to be a good capitalist. And in order to be a good capitalist, I needed to be a good Christian. And in order to be a good family man, I needed to be a good Christian and a good capitalist. But as a young teenager, struggling to help my mother come up with money to pay our home's mortgage and utilities, these were not ideas and concepts that I could easily grasp. It was difficult to see the 'big picture' when bills needed to be paid before we could eat.

But now, looking back at my family life, I have since come to realize that my mother, with almost no formal education, no career skills, no money, and three small children to feed, inherently understood many of the basic concepts in this book. My mother was not as eloquent as Wattles, and she didn't have much of an opportunity to put Wattles' principles into practice. But me and my brothers were inadvertently living and learning Wattles' concepts every day - through the actions of our mother. She taught us that even in the worst of times, that by sticking to our single-minded vision to grow and thrive, that we will survive; and acting everyday with purpose to achieve our goals, that our faith in each other and in our dream of creating a successful life will help us succeed; and our gratitude to God for keeping us healthy so that we could keep working and studying, we would eventually be successful. And eventually, we were.

Despite his efforts, however, Wattles remained obscure. His obscurity stands in contrast to the fame of his best known work, The Science of Getting Rich, which became a classic volume in the self-help literature, and it is considered as one of the greatest books on wealth and abundance, ranking with Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, Charles Haanel's The Master Key System, and James Allen's As a Man Thinketh.Rhonda Byrne, the creator of the movie The Secret and the author of the book by the same name, credits The Science of Getting Rich with being her main inspiration for the movie and the book. Anyone interested in the Law of Attraction or the building of wealth and abundance should include The Science of Getting Rich in their reading and then seriously consider applying the lessons Wattles provides.

The main premise of The Science of Getting Rich is that there is a certain way of doing things. Rich people are rich because they are doing things a certain way, following certain unbreakable rules. There are indeed some unbreakable rules that all must abide by and these rules have withstood the test of time and practicality and if followed to the letter, they can make anyone rich. The author, Wallace D. Wattles talks about the importance of practical thinking.

The Science of Getting Rich is a book that will mold your thinking and infuse your mind with the thoughts that you need to think in order to gain riches. Moreover, as the book tells us, it is a positive feedback process wherein if you get riches then getting more riches becomes easier than it was the first time you acquired those riches because now you can live a fuller more complete life. You can become a success in any business. But when it comes to being in the right business, a person would do best in a business that they like. When you enjoy what you do it is a joy to do it. If you have already developed talents and abilities for a particular business, then it may be to you advantage to work that business as you look for new opportunities. Don't neglect where you are right now, there may be many un-tapped opportunities you have overlooked.

It is a book that Wallace wrote hundred years ago to make people understand the concept of wealth acquisition faster. This is a book that will only tell you about how to make money and it has nothing to do with raising your self-esteem or identifying goals to lead a happy life. Wallace is direct to the point and makes it clear that everyone has the right to be rich and wealthy. However, he never ever promotes negativity like greed or selfishness.

Another tool I have used to see things I would otherwise not see is photos. Take a series of pictures where you work or spend most of your time. Do you see things in those still photos that you don't see while you are walking through? Study them for a while, a new opportunity, you could not see before, just might pop out at you.Have you ever thought about what things you do the best and/or love to do the most? Is there a way to use your talents and abilities in your current position? Or a way to grow into another line of work that you can focus on doing what you love?Wallace Wattles also says: " If you are ever to begin to make ready for the reception of what you want, you must begin now."So what if you do not have the training or education to have the business you would love? Take action now and "begin to make ready for the reception of what you want". Get the training you need, learn what you need to know, start making connections with people who are doing what you want to do.You can not sit back and think it into being. You must take steps toward what you desire - you must take action.

The Secret Science Of Getting Rich

By David C. Messier

That life responds to you is an important concept that many fail to ever grasp. For most people it seems like life does things to them and they are there catching. Every so often someone gets lucky and some good things happen, otherwise it just happens. Do you subscribe to that view? If so, it is time to change and get in line with what Rhonda Byrne said.Actually that idea goes back a long way. A fairly recent reference to it is made in The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. Wattles wrote the book and it had a little success at the time and then lay dormant for most of the intervening 100 years. Rhonda Byrne was given a copy of the book at a low moment in her life and it was a revelation to her. She turned her failing business and unsuccessful life around and produced The Secret which became a world wide phenomena highlighting the law of attraction and Wattles book, The Science of Getting Rich.
[The Science Of Getting Rich]

By understanding universal truths such as 'all things are energy' the secret science of getting rich teaches us that we are the answer to the wealth we seek. Many search for wealth outside themselves not realizing that the answers were within them. By using the power of mental projection to form a clear mental image of what is desired, it is possible to bring those desires into material form. For those who have read 'The Secret' and 'The Law of Attraction,' these fundamental teachings may seem familiar. But for those who have never heard of them, it may either seem revolutionary or skeptical. Either way, whether you choose to believe or not, these truths exist and affect everything on the material plane including our bank accounts.

As a society we are taught to be skeptical and at the same time we are taught to go outside for approval. This makes for a very bad combination because we stop letting our intuition be our guides and instead work very hard to receive approval from others in terms of career, religion and family life. Living to blend in with the masses is not a path to truth. Instead it is a way to deny our own uniqueness and to bury the gifts within us. By living from the inside out using the principles discussed in the Secret science of Getting Rich, we find true wealth in becoming the best we can be.It takes courage to forge ahead and make a new path and this can be scary for many people. However we only have one life to live and what will we have to look back on when it is over? Will we have been just another good parent raising good kids or will we add to our children's lives by developing our highest potential and showing them through our own example? All these things are possible when we know how to live according to the universal truths that govern our lives. The science of getting rich offers us direction and shows step by step how to do this.

First you have to build a mental picture of what you want. This image needs to be as detailed as possible. What will it look like? What will it sound like? What will it smell like? Who will be there? How will you look? What will you be doing? The more 'alive' you can build the image in your mind, the easier it is for formless substance to bring it to you. I might help to play a movie of what you want in your mind in order to see all the detail, hear people speaking (what are they saying?), feel the new car as you drive down the lane, smell the new furniture as you stroll through your living room. You have to feel as if you already have what you are seeing in your mind's eye.The real key to the process of building your mental picture is to add feeling to it. Put yourself in the place of already having what you want and then feel how it feels to be there. With as much emotion as you can feed into it, let the scene come alive.Once you have fueled your images with emotion and felt like it is already yours, you can then be genuinely full of gratitude that what you have asked for is coming to you. It is the process of infusing your vision with emotion that connects you to source through gratitude. This is how the process works.

Recently there has been a lot of chatter online about The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles, and some gurus are offering programs that follow the principles outlined in the book, along with a copy of the book as a bonus. I read The Science of Getting Rich a few years ago, but I thought I would read it again with new lens. You have to read this book with an open mind, and the title of the book is often a turnoff for many. The book is not just about becoming wealthy in terms of money; it's about living a fulfilled life and tapping into your true potential. It's what true wealth is about.

Wallace Wattles is the godfather of the personal development field and he was a man ahead of his time. While reading The Science of Getting Rich I experienced a feeling of dj vu, like I had been down this road before. And I had, his concept is essentially The Law of Attraction. Key to Yourself by Venice Bloodworth published in 1952, says many of the same things, in exactly the same way that Wattles said them. In the film The Secret, the book that the creator Rhonda Byrne refers to that impacted her, is The Science of Getting Rich. It's fascinating to see where the Law of Attraction began, even if it wasn't called that at the time.

Think and Grow Rich argues that getting rich is a definite chief aim, a right so to speak, and it calls for a systematic approach as well, called the law of the mastermind. It now is a matter of recognizing the path to getting rich. Wattles first talks of the first principles in the science of getting rich and soon enough goes on to list the value one must look into. He talks of increasing life, gratitude, thinking in the certain way, how to use the will, acting in the certain way, getting into the right business and ends with the impression of increase, the advance of man and some precautions and concluding observations.Minus the final lesson which summarizes the points, Wattles discusses the science of getting rich in 16 lessons.

Even though Wattles focuses a lot on visualizing what you want, having a clear mental image, and behaving as if you already have what you want, taking personal action is stated outright in many sections. "When you know what to think and do, then you must use your will to compel yourself to think and do the right things... You must not rely upon thought alone, paying no attention to personal action. That is the rock upon which many otherwise scientific metaphysical thinkers meet shipwreck--the failure to connect thought with personal action."This time around, I enjoyed reading The Science of Getting Rich and I saw things I do not remember seeing before. Despite the name, it's quite uplifting and inspiring, and it teaches many lessons such as a grateful heart, humility and thinking abundantly. Here are some takeaways from the book, which will appear familiar to you.

The law of success in 16 lessons is the significant specific difference which may be forwarded as far as these two successful books are concerned. The 16 lessons actually represent the simplification of an otherwise difficult task anyone wanting to succeed in getting rich faces and sometime ends up fearing. Simplification is key to both works by Wattles and Hill. Simplification means making their prescriptions reachable and realistic. Simplification ultimately means success. Simplification means getting rich.In the last analysis, Wattles and Hill therefore are declaring the same basic point. There is nothing complicated in the path to getting rich. Everything is within reach by anyone serious enough to have that desire to get rich shown by the willingness to do something about it. Wallace calls it a science. Hill calls it the law of the mastermind. Both are systematic approaches simple and succinct to follow.

There is no long-winding path to thread, only a brief, direct to the point road to success. Getting rich comes as a result of doing the right things at the right time. One who does the right things gets rich. One who does not do the right things, even if he keeps on exerting effort, will remain poor. This is not based on anything beyond one's reach. The path to getting rich however starts with getting to know how to simplify everything and how to focus one's sight in the systematic run towards success. There will be no need for many things to do. It is clear from the suggestions made in these two works that by doing exactly what they prescribe, success is inevitable. This is what makes things simple. Just do what is said. The two masterpieces clearly outline in very simple 16 lessons the qualities which one must possess in order to achieve success. It is all a matter of knowing what these qualities are. Or perhaps it's a matter of seeing how simple things really are.

The Science Of Getting Rich, Its Relationship With "the Secret," And The Law Of Attraction

By Harold C. Rehm

To be rich is definitely not easy. However, that doesn't mean that to be rich is unattainable. The power, glamor, and fame of being rich are within reach provided that we would take the initiative to discover how it is to be rich. The laws of success would tell us that big things start from small beginnings. A difference in our lives shall emanate from doing things gradually but surely. The possession of wealth such as money and property results from our ways of doing things in a certain manner. One of the secrets to get rich is to learn how to do things in certain ways. That is to be sure that what you are doing is proper and are in connection to your definite aim. This certain ways of doing things would allow you to invest and focus your time as well as effort not only to a small number of things but to a lot of ways by which you get rich.
[The 11 forgotten laws]

If you watched "The Secret" and remember the first scene, Rhonda Byrne is talking about how she received a small book from her daughter that turned her life around. That book, as I later found out, was "The Science of Getting Rich". This is the little book which changed her life.

So what's it all about? In his book, Mr. Wattles discusses topics such as your right to be rich, gratitude, the importance of thinking in what he terms a "certain way". He then follows this with his observations about acting in a "certain way", and taking efficient action. He also discusses how the advancing person is not in competition with others at all, but is in a creative mode, and understands they are here to create whatever it is that they want, through thinking and acting in a "certain way".This 1910 classic is a tremendous read. You can actually go online and download free it at your leisure. Think of it in these terms, to paraphrase Jim Rhon, the principals of success don't change over time. What Mr. Wattles teaches in "The Science of Getting Rich" has proven to be successful through many generations. If we go back before Wallace Wattles' time, those principals, I'm certain, were the cornerstones of success for centuries prior to the writing.

To sum it all, getting rich is the result of doing things in certain ways. These certain ways of doing things can also be included in the laws of success - laws which do not only enable man to get rich but they also make man successful in different aspects of life.If anyone in your place can get rich, so can you. Getting rich is not a matter of choosing the best profession or business. People can get rich in every profession or business while others who are in line with same profession and business remain to be poor. Again, that is because, getting rich is dependent upon our manner of doing things. We should do things in certain ways to get rich and successful.

I speak from personal experience here ~ after 14 years in the corporate world I followed my dreams and started my own personal development business. For me being in service, helping others and making a positive difference around the world gives me the true riches in life. The fact that I am creating financial freedom from doing this is just a wonderful bonus:). I think it is about time that we were totally honest with ourselves regards learning all the stuff that is available to make us rich, make us happy, make us more aware how to use the Law of Attraction etc. It seems we follow the really successful gurus who have made these teachings work for them and have had meteoric success from day one. Now although this is good sales publicity, it is not what happens for 99% of the people who try to learn. We can also get sucked into following someone who has read a book and has the flair to create adverts and sales product to entice us into there fantastic new fail proof method.

When Visualization and Affirmations Don't Work. There is a science to visualization and affirmations that most people don't get. You can add mental and spiritual power towards your visualization and affirmations to increase its power. Many of those techniques are quite ancient and practiced in many mystery schools. Few people take the time to go beyond the basics of the law of attraction to learn those powerful techniques that get astounding results. There is a Science to Everything in Nature. To master life you must learn the rules and the law of attraction as well as the development of the mind is crucial to living a successful life. If you find yourself failing again and again it is because you have not dedicated yourself to fully understanding the right techniques to getting results. It's not enough to just know about the law of attraction. It's not enough to just think positive thoughts. The real science of attraction requires a rhythm and technique that few people understand. Those who know it use it to create an amazing life. Most people are led to believe they are powerless when it comes to their financial prospects or any other influential aspect of their lives. While many feel it is their lot to labor as wage slaves, others are frustrated in their attempts at beginning a business enterprise by what they might characterize as bad market forces. It probably hasn't occurred to them that they may possess the power necessary to sculpt the world around them through the power of thought. Surprisingly enough, there is scientific evidence from various disciplines such as botany, physics and computer science that support this conclusion.

Since the discovery of the dual nature of light in 1803, physicists searched for an explanation. From 1900 onward, scientists predicted that the probability of real, physical outcomes is based upon probabilities at the sub-atomic or quantum level. Moreover, it was found the act of observation itself not only may change the outcome, but is, in fact, required for any one of infinite possibilities to come true - some are just more likely than others. When the "many worlds" theory was introduced in the late 1950s, it was predicted that each and every decision at the sub-atomic level comes true, creating an entire universe where history unfolds differently. Just a few years later, the notion of all matter being connected on some fundamental level was laid out. This "entanglement" of particle pairs gives rise to "spooky action at a distance, as theorized by Einstein a half century earlier.

I have made these teachings work for me and I have helped countless people over the years and I believe my main strength is understanding that you will keep hitting a brick wall and thinking that things are not working and you are doing something wrong.Do not worry there is nothing wrong with you and these setbacks are all part of the journey. Fortunately knowing that they will occur and accepting them as part of the learning curve does help.

Every time you falter and then get back on track, will give you the strength to keep going. Each time you get started again gives you a greater understanding and each time you will not fall as far.The purpose of this article is to let you know that you are normal if you do find these teachings difficult to learn and apply, and to make sure that you find someone to help you that has had experience in coping with the problems encountered on the journey to understanding.Let me tell you that these teachings are really powerful, they do work but it does take time to learn and understand them.

Experiments have also been conducted with the eggs to determine if a large number of minds with the same purpose in mind can have a collective effect. Correlation was found between experimental events where a very large number of people concentrate on a given goal at the same time. Experiments by late night talk-show host Art Bell produced chaotic though tangible results that were also measured on the Princeton Eggs. What is even more exciting is that the effect seems to occur outside the constant of space and time, as well. For instance, the effect of something happening in India is just as likely to appear on an egg in the subcontinent as the Canada. Also, when events were about to unfold that no one or only a few people were aware of, there has been several minutes of lead-time demonstrated from when the effect is first noted in the Eggs and the corresponding event occurs.
